How has the narrators role at lowood changed?

The question refers to the novel Jane Eyre that was written by Charlotte Brontë. At Lowood the narrator is at that point of the story a student no longer merely a spectator as he participates in school as a student. Thus, the narrator's role changes from that of a spectator to a one of participant.
