[tex] \frac{61}{8} + \frac{14}{3} [/tex]

[tex] = \frac{(61 \times 3) + (14 \times 8)}{8 \times 3} [/tex]

[tex] = \frac{183 + 112}{24} [/tex]

[tex] = \frac{295}{24} [/tex]

[tex] = 12 \frac{7}{24} [/tex]

hence, the correct answer is option D.
