Steps to solve:

6a + 12 = 3(2a + 1) + 5

~Distribute right sides

6a + 12 = 6a + 3 + 5

~Simplify

6a + 12 = 6a + 8

~Subtract 12 to both sides

6a = 6a - 4

~Subtract 6a to both sides

0 = 4

Therefore, there are no solutions.

Best of Luck!
