You could say genetic variation is very important in evolution because without new traits organisms can’t evolve for their survival. For example, if a rabbit is white living in a green forest it stands out and it would need to evolve to have brown spots so it can blend with trees. If there is no genetic variation then the rabbit cannot evolve to survive in this environment because it doesn’t have the genetic variation to do so.
