Answer: if you don't qualify for SSDI, look for a good lawyer and don't give up. However, you can apply for State Temporary Disability . Some states offer temporary disability benefits that help carry you through until you receive a decision on SSDI and/or SSI. Start by contacting the local or state office of social services. Every state has one. In some places, this agency is called the Department of Family and Social Services.
