Simple,

you have [tex] \frac{ x^{10} }{ x^{4} } [/tex]

This really means that you have...

[tex] \frac{x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x*x}{x*x*x*x} [/tex]

just cancel out the x's that you have, it's simple...

leaving you [tex] x^{6} [/tex]
