Can carbon dating be used to identify the age of rocks or fossils?

Only organic fossils up to 70,000 years of age. Other isotope dating techniques must be used to find the age of older fossils and rocks.

Usually it is rocks which determine the age of fossils, but if the fossils discovered are already of a known age, the age of the rock can be inferred
